Little Rock , Arkansas – The Arkansas State CASA Association, along with its 24 local member programs, will present The Forgotten Children Campaign at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, February 20, 2009 .      The event will be held on the front steps of the Arkansas State Capitol.

The Forgotten Children Campaign is a very dramatic visual display,” said Julian Holloway , Director of the Arkansas State CASA Association, “designed to raise awareness about the needs of children in foster care and the state-wide need for CASA volunteers and quality foster parents,” she said.   Holloway added that children from each of Arkansas ’s 75 counties will be represented at the Capitol.

In May 2008, the National CASA Association conducted a similar campaign in Washington , DC .   Thousands of children were represented on the grounds of the Washington Monument , drawing national attention to the issues facing kids in foster care.

CASA , or Court Appointed Special Advocates, trains adult volunteers to speak out in court for abused and neglected children, in an effort to ensure that each child is nurtured in a safe, permanent home.
